About Linux Junkies
Linux Junkies started back in 2003 as a small group of GNU/Linux enthusiasts swapping HOWTOs and helping each other get unstuck. Over the years the original site collected hundreds of tutorials and a well-worn glossary that people still cite today.
We have rebuilt it from the ground up for the modern Linux era. The forum and the dusty 2000s-era HOWTOs are gone; in their place is a fast, searchable library of practical guides, a plain-English glossary and a command reference — all kept current with today's tools and methods (systemd, modern firewalls, current LTS releases) across every major distribution.
What you will find here
- Guides — step-by-step how-tos from your first install through server setup, security hardening, day-to-day maintenance and advanced topics. Every guide says which distros and versions it was tested on.
- Glossary — every Linux term that ever confused you, defined in plain English and cross-linked to the guides.
- Commands — example-first reference pages for the commands you actually use.
How we work
We aim for guides that are correct, current and free of fluff — the command, what it does, and the gotcha that would have cost you an hour. Found something out of date or wrong? We would rather know — corrections keep the library trustworthy.
Linux Junkies is independent and not affiliated with any distribution or vendor.
