Manjaro
Manjaro is a user-friendly Linux distribution based on Arch Linux that provides an accessible entry point to Arch's rolling-release model with pre-configured defaults and graphical installers.
Manjaro simplifies Arch Linux for beginners and intermediate users by adding a curated layer on top of Arch's core packages. It uses the same pacman package manager and AUR (Arch User Repository) but adds its own testing repositories to ensure stability before updates reach users.
Unlike Arch's minimalist philosophy that requires extensive manual configuration, Manjaro ships with pre-configured desktop environments (KDE Plasma, GNOME, Xfce) and includes a graphical installer, making installation straightforward. For example, a user can boot the Manjaro ISO, click through an installer, and have a fully functional desktop environment ready without command-line setup.
Manjaro maintains a rolling-release cycle, meaning users receive continuous updates rather than major version upgrades. This provides access to recent software while the testing repositories delay potentially unstable packages by a few weeks, striking a balance between freshness and stability.
