rEFInd
rEFInd is a boot manager for UEFI systems that allows you to select and launch different operating systems or boot options from a graphical menu instead of relying solely on the firmware's boot interface.
rEFInd is a lightweight, user-friendly replacement for the default UEFI firmware boot menu. It automatically detects installed operating systems and boot loaders, presenting them in an intuitive graphical interface with icons and descriptions.
Unlike the standard UEFI boot menu, rEFInd offers better organization, easier navigation, and support for additional boot options. It works by being installed as a UEFI application on your EFI System Partition (ESP), typically at /boot/efi/EFI/refind/.
A common example: on a dual-boot system with Windows and Linux, rEFInd displays both options at startup with clear icons, allowing you to select which OS to boot with a few keystrokes or mouse clicks. It's particularly useful for systems with multiple partitions or operating systems.
